Hope For Our Own: An L.A. Story is a documentary directed and produced by Riley Beres, a rising actress, comedian, model, director, and producer and Jimmy Deshler, an actor from the daytime series, General Hospital.

This eye opening documentary will address the growing epidemic of homelessness in Los Angeles. There are over 51,000 homeless people in Los Angeles County, and of that number over 12,000 have been homeless over one year and over 9,000 are Veterans that have served our country. These young filmmakers will address the different dynamics of homelessness and provide stories of hope.

Follow Beres and Deshler as they embark on this journey to bring social awareness to this growing epidemic. They will give a first-hand view on the many faces of homelessness and bring information forward that very few know. You will get an inside view on others that are making a difference at shelters, missions, and organizations. While these two teens don't promise a resolution, they do promise to create a piece of work that inspires change.

Nik Peter has been making films since his parents bought him a camcorder at age 11. What began as silly movies with toys as actors and himself as all of the voices, graduated to a love of the art as he began writing, directing, and editing his own films in high school. While majoring in Film Production at Chapman University, he met Riley when she auditioned for his senior thesis film. Her acting skills, comedic talent, and overall character landed her the part. After he graduated, Riley asked Nik if he knew an editor, and then volunteered himself to do the job. He has always wanted to help the cause of homelessness but never knew how to make a difference; so this seemed like the perfect opportunity! Working with Riley has been such a joy, and an amazing learning experience for both of us. Now that this film is made, countless people will see the harsh reality of the situation and hopefully be inspired to make a difference in the homeless community.
